Definition of Christian:
In our case, we will be looking at the definition of Christianity as an individual who believes that Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again 3 days after His crucifixion. A Christian is a person who has made a conscious decision to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and live by the Bible to the best of his or her ability and or understanding. A Christian is a Christ follower, one who firmly believes in having faith.
Definition of Faith:
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
“I have faith that he will be on time for the wedding”
Why should I Become a Christian?
First, no one can ever force or convince you to become Christian. No one can ever force you to believe in something that does not convict you personally. The reason for this is because Christianity is a personal life journey that is experienced between an individual and God.
For example, No teenager would ever want to be forced by their parents to learn scriptures in the bible. This will cause them to either turn away from Christianity or pretend to be a Christian for the sake of their parents’ approval. Rather the Teenager would be more likely to make the decision themselves once exposed to the “Correct Christian Lifestyle” where they can see the good that comes from becoming Christian. Or when they go through a difficult time in their life and God answers their prayer through comforting and reassuring scripture which they sought after themselves.
This content is to provide evidence of the Christian Faith and the reasons why so many people follow Christianity. The choice to become a Christian, however, is personal.
What turns people away from Christianity?
There are many reasons why people do not want to become Christians. This, however, is all because of “Bad Personal Experience”. For example, a wife goes to church with her husband every Sunday, yet every week the married couple end up fighting and screaming which causes the husband to hit his wife out of frustration to “win” the argument. It is therefore with good reason for the abused wife to say that, Christianity is hypocritical because it did not work in her household, the reason being this so-called “Christian” that goes to church to become a better person, abuses his wife physically.
Main reasons why people do not want to become Christians:
- Because they do not want to change
- “Christians” bad behavior in public
- People feel Christianity is Hypocritical
- They feel judged by Christians
- Because they don’t believe in God
- Christianity has been forced in the past
- If they were abused by someone who pretended to be a Christian
- Because Christians “Hate” homosexuals
- Due to Pride

What brings people to or want to become Christian
People that become Christian are those who make a personal decision to follow Christ, the reason being that God has personally affected their lives is some way or another. This is the reason why non-Christians get “offended” when their close family member or friend become Christian. It is because they do not understand what has happened to the person because it is so personal that the only way you can understand it is if you experience the same thing for yourself. Becoming Christian is not a once off event, It is a journey.
What takes place on this journey?
- People pray for you
- Strangers become friends
- You experience a different Love
- One learns how to live life better
- Understanding right and wrong
- The absence of God is relevant in society
- You experience more peace
- Anger fades away
- Learning to trust again
- Putting other people first
- Improved relationships
- Sense of security and promise
The list goes on. More will be added to this page, Please leave your thoughts and comments, experiences below so that we can add them to our list and improve our own lives and the lives of those around us.
In the meantime, If you are on the fence about becoming Christian, my advice would be that you experience the process and that you know it is a process that can take days, weeks or even months. But let the process happen because that is how God reveals himself to you. James 4 – “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you” Meet God where He is, and the rest will fall into place.
How Do I Become A Christian?
If you are really asking yourself that question. Then that means you feel in your heart the desire or need for change in your life. That means that the Holy Spirit is knocking on the door of your heart. But as I said before, Christianity or becoming a Christian is not a once off event, It is a Journey, in fact, you’ve been going through that process of becoming a Christian already. So technically speaking you already are one.
If you believe that God is real and that Jesus dies on the cross for your sins. If you acknowledge that Jesus Christ Is Lord who died on the cross and rose again 3 days later. Then you’re already a Christian.
The Prayer Of Salvation
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus.
I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner,
and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.
I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.
Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul.
With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.
Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins.
I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance.
Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.
Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. AMEN
I’m Born Again Now, So Whats Next?
If you said that prayer out loud then you’re an official believer. Now you are known as what we Christians call “Born Again” The most important thing for you to do right now is to find a GOOD Church. One that preaches The Truth and that will look after you with a well-established Care Group.
This is how you will grow closer to God in spirit and in truth, and the beginning of a new journey for you. God’s word says in Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future”
